MWC Project Control Services’ vision is to become a leader in providing quality staff members, Earned Value Management training courses, consultation and support on ©World Class Project Controls™ based on Earned Value Principles to individuals and companies, locally and internationally.

To date, MWC has over 45 permanent staff in its employment, which includes Project Managers, Project Control Managers, Project Planners, Cost Controllers and Construction Managers, that are subcontracted to various companies.

MWC also offers Project Controls Training Courses in four different levels that are accredited by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).


MWC Project Control Services offers Project Control courses in four different levels, from basic to mastery level and an executive briefing. A synopsis of each course can be provided on request.

Currently MWC has ECSA accreditation (under Marwillcor Project Control Services (Pty) Ltd) for its basic and advanced courses, with the mastery and executive briefing to be accredited in the near future.

Project Controls
MWC (Pty) Ltd also offers consulting and support services on Project Controls based on Earned Value Management Principles, as well as outsourcing of Project Controls staff to projects. MWC currently has employees outsourced to client companies such as Anglo American, Sasol, Exxaro, Eskom, Lonmin, Bokoni, Alstom S&E, Amec and others.

Project Management
MWC manages projects using the best project management tools, processes and procedures within Risk management, Quality management and Safety Management, in order to improve on the delivery of projects.

MWC uses engineering excellence and internationally recognised project control best practices within the disciplines of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Control and Instrumentation to enhance better performance in the delivery of projects.




Willem Jacobus Viljoen (Willie) is the Managing Director of MWC Project Control Services (Marwillcor (Pty) Ltd. since 1987). He has more than 35 years’ experience in project controls, covering mining, petro-chemical, power generation and nuclear projects. Since 2005 Willie has attended various international conferences on Earned Value Management and has brought internationally recognised best practices to South Africa. He currently specialises in setting-up Project Controls based on Earned Value Management Principles on large projects. He is also a consultant to most major mining houses, and petro-chemical companies in South Africa.

Willie has held various senior positions during his career:

  •  1984 - 1987: Director of Group 5 Projects Construction.
  •   1987 - Date: Director of Marwillcor (Pty) Ltd. (now known as MWC for short). MWC (Pty) Ltd. provides ECSA accredited training workshops to the Project Management and Construction industries.
  •   2003 - 2004: Worked in collaboration with Dr. David Milne of David Milne & Associates to apply and assess Earned Value progress and performance measurement on major projects in South Africa.
  •   2004: Appointed as a member of the PMSA Standards Generation Body - A Government Gazette Appointment.
  •   2004 - 2005: Served on the Board as Director of the Cost Engineering Association of South Africa (CEASA).

Willie has presented several papers and workshops on Earned Value Management:

  •  2008: AACEI’s World Conference in Toronto.
  •   2009: PMSA Annual Conference in Cape Town.
  •   2012: ICEC World Conference in Durban.
  •   2012: Annual International EPCM Conference in Johannesburg.
  •   2012: Partnering with PricewaterhouseCoopers on the subject Earned Value Management.


James Lesibana Lamola – Pr.Eng, MEng, B.Eng (Hons), N.Dip (Teaching)

James has 12 years’ multi-disciplined project management experience, of which 7 years has been in power generation. His experience includes estimating, project controls, cost engineering and planning in all phases of a project life cycle, design and engineering, project management, construction and contract management. As engineering manager, James has pioneered the setting-up of the Project Controls Department. He is currently a partner in MWC Project Control Services (Pty) Ltd.



Sannette Viljoen – EVP, CCC, B.BK (Workshop Presenter at MWC and Cost Control Manager)

Sannette Viljoen certified in 2010 as an Earned Value Professional (EVP) with AACEI (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International) and in 2011 as a Certified Cost Consultant (CCC) also through AACEI. She has acquired her Corporate Communication degree (B.BK) from Potchefstroom University (RSA) in 1997. Sannette has more than 14 years’ experience in Project Cost Engineering and Project Controls, and currently works as a Cost Control Manager. She gives input at MWC’s 3-day training workshops, mostly covering the CPR (Cost Performance Report). Read more about the training under the Training/Workshops tab above.

Sannette has held various positions during her working career:
  •  1997-2009 – Project Planning & Costing at various EPCM and Engineering companies working mainly on Mining, Nuclear and Petro-Chemical Plants.
  •   2009 to 2012 – Earned Value Management Control Account Manager – practicing project controls and reporting on project progress, performance and project status, based on Earned Value Management Principles, on coal mining surface processing plants.
  •   Currently (since mid-2012) – Cost Control Manager at a major engineering and construction group – managing cost engineers on various projects by ensuring cost control are in line with cost control processes and procedures, and earned value management best practices and principles.

Sannette has attended the following international conferences on Earned Value Management:
  •  2008: AACEI’s World Conference in Toronto, Canada.
  •   2010: The College of Performance Measures’ Earned Value World Conference in Naples, Florida, USA.


Willem Viljoen – N.Dip, PSP (Project Planner and Primavera Specialist)

Willem acquired his National Diploma from Tshwane University of Technology in 2005, certified as a Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) with AACEI (Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International) in 2012, and got his B.Tech degree in 2013.

Willem has over 8 years’ experience in project planning and consulting on Primavera software, which includes consulting for major companies in the Oil & Gas-, Power Utility- and Engineering and Construction Industries throughout South Africa. He is also a presenter of MWC’s 4 levels of training.


Mmakotseng Pinky Chuene (Operations Manager) - Programme Project Management (UP), Cert. Entrepreneur, N.Dip.

Pinky has extensive experience as Project Administrator in Business Development, as well as in Marketing. She gained her experience of more than 10 years while working for various organisations, including power generation, and other government sectors and parastatals.

Pinky was successful as Operational Director of Katipaki Trading Enterprise (Pty) Ltd, and has now joined the MWC team.


Catherine van Aarde – Head of Department (HR, Salaries and Debtors) at MWC

Catherine manages the MWC Human Resources, Salary and Debtors Department. She is responsible for client liaison on behalf of MWC, handling Professional Service Contracts and quotes between MWC and their Clients. Catherine also manages the MWC Payroll system and salary related matters for the subcontracted staff and MWC full-time employees.


Amelia Viljoen - B. Cons.Sc. (Training Coordinator at MWC)

Amelia studied at the University of Pretoria to graduate in the field of Consumer Science, majoring in Retail Management but after marrying Willem Viljoen Jnr in 2008, she decided to work for the family business (MWC). Amelia coordinates the training workshops from start to finish. She is also in charge of the aesthetics of most of MWC’s presentations, business cards, training handbooks, CDs, MWC documents, as well as invoicing, editing and copy writing.

Amelia also fulfils the role of event planner for the 3 annual MWC Year-end functions (one in KwaZulu-Natal, one in North West and one in Limpopo).
